In 1612, Mumtaz Mahal was married to Shah Jehan a mughul prince soon to become the fifth mughal emperor.
Mumtaz was Shah Jehan's inseparable companion, councilor, as well as wife. Mumtaz even accompanied her husband on military campaigns. She also encourage him to be considerate to the poor and needy.
Mumtaz had 14 children and died in child birth
Shah Jehan was devastated by the loss of his beloved Mumtaz and as an expression of his love and devotion commissioned the building of the Taj Mahal.
Over 20,000 men were involved in it's construction. And Shah Jehan recruited the best craftsmen from Europe and Asia in it's design and construction.
It was completed in 1648 an everlasting
tribute to the love between these two remarkable people.
